Delegations from Uganda and Rwanda are set to meet next week in Rwandan capital Kigali to formalize implementation of a peace pact that was recently signed by President Yoweri Museveni and Paul Kagame to normalize relations between the two countries.
The MOU provided for establishment of an ad hoc commission for its implementation.
The MOU also provided that the ad hoc commission would be headed Foreign Affairs ministers from both countries, and composed of ministers responsible for internal administration together with heads of intelligence organs from both Uganda and Rwanda.
According to a statement released on Thursday, the meeting of the ad hoc commission will be held on 16th September 2019, and a delegation from Uganda will be led by the foreign affairs minister Hon. Sam Kuteesa.
The memorandum was signed on 21st August 2019 at the sidelines of a summit convened by the President of Angola Joao Lourenco and witnessed by heads of state and government of the republics of Angola, and Democratic republic of Congo.
According to the MOU, both countries were expected to resume as soon as possible the cross border activities between both countries, including movement of persons and goods, and enforced settlement of disputes in implementation of the MOU through dialogue between both parties.
