UGANDA: Powerful explosions suspected to be bomb blasts have taken place close to Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala and Parliament Avenue this morning killing several people.

Media reports indicate there were two blasts, with one at Kooki Towers opposite CPS and Jubilee Insurance offices on Parliament Avenue.

Live Television broadcasts show a car smouldering along Parliament Avenue while shards of glass covered a section of the road close to CPS.

Uganda Police is yet to issue a statement and a lifeless body is seen in a footage circulating on social media. Ambulances with blazing sirens picked several people who were injured in the blast as security is chasing people from the city center.

Another bomb blast was later reported at Nakasero market.
