Military Police officers have sealed off Alternative Digitalk TV studios in Makindye, our sources confirmed.

Our sources confirmed heavy military deployment around the premises housing the studios along Makindye-Lukuli-Nanganda Road with no one allowed to access the site or exit.

Alternative Digitalk is an online television platform owned by Norman Tumuhimbise -an activist and who became popular for his radical street activism style under Jobless Brotherhood whose trademark was throwing pigs at different places in town.

Initially, Tumuhimbise was a member of the opposition FDC who later linked up with Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) led by Gen Mugisha Muntu. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Norman started a youth organization called The Alternative Uganda and set up an online TV with state-of-the Art studios in Makindye where he employs about 20 people.

Phone calls to several people inside the premises remain unanswered which shows that the phones may have been stripped from the owners.

The motive behind the siege is still unknown but Norman was planning to launch a controversial book titled; “The Komanyoko Politics -unsowing the Mustard Seed” which is critical of the ruling government and President Yoweri Museveni’s leadership.

Mr Luke Owoyesigyire, the KMP Deputy Spokesperson said he will first inquire to ascertain the reason behind the seige.

The book launch was scheduled for 30th March 2022 at Imperial Royale.
