The Electoral Commission (EC) has today announced the commencement of display of the National Voters Register and the Register for Special Interest Groups (Youths, PWDs and Older Persons), at 620 polling stations where the exercise delayed following the official scheduled start date of April 25, 2025.
In the statement issued by the EC spokesperson, Julius Mucunguzi, the crucial exercise which facilitates voters to confirm their eligibility to participate in the forthcoming elections, will run for 21 Days for voters to verify their registration details in line with legal requirements.
“The display exercise allows voters to confirm their actual names and photographs, report those they consider to be underage, the deceased who still appear on the list, but also flag cases of multiple registration” Mr Mucunguzi stated.
“We wish to mention that the Electoral Commission staff are at each of the 38315 polling stations spread across the country everyday from 8am to 6pm including weekends and during public holidays. We call upon Ugandans and the public at large, to take this voter display as an important exercise” He noted saying the complaints from this exercise will be reported to the tribunals to ensure a clean Voters Register.
Mr Mucunguzi stressed that it is vital to ensuring a credible and clean voter register because that is the foundation for a free, credible and transparent process ahead of the 2026 General elections.
The Electoral Commission is urging all members of the public who registered as voters to visit the polling stations and scrutinize the displayed voter’s registers to ensure the integrity of Uganda’s electoral process come 2026.
