Never Send Stupid Letters to me -Gen Muhoozi slams Human Rights Commission Boss

In a shocking response, the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba has slammed the Uganda Human Rights Commission boss, Mariam Wangadya, for what he called a stupid letter she sent ordering him to immediately release an opposition supporter Eddie Mutwe.

On 2nd May 2025, Mariam Wangadya Mutonyi directed the CDF to cause the release of Edward Ssebuufu aka Eddie Mutwe who had been allegedly under incarceration for close to a week. This followed a tweet from the CDF indicating that Mutwe was in the Gen Muhoozi’s office basement, and experiencing several forms of torture.

Today, the CDF wrote;
“LOL if these people value the lives we gave them, they MUST NEVER think of sending me such STUPID letter again! This is their last warning! I expect an apology” Muhoozi post reads with the May 2 letter attached.

The Uganda Human Rights Commission is the only Constitutional body charged with promotion and protection of human rights in Uganda, with a mandate extending to summoning any government official or causing arrest and prosecution of any official implicated in acts of human rights violations.

In the letter, Hon Wangadya stated that the Commission was satisfied that Edward Ssebuufu was being illegally detained in the CDF ‘s custody, and failure to release him would amount to contempt under Article 53(1)(d) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

However, following the issuance of the letter, Edward Ssebuufu was produced in court and he is currently on remand for offenses related to theft.

The Human Rights Commission or Hon Mariam Wangadya have not responded to the CDF ‘s response yet and the public will be anxious to see how they respond.
