KAMPALA 23 JUNE 2025: Muwumuza Godfrey, a teacher at Kaboja Junior School has today been convicted and sentenced under plea bargain arrangement, on charges of attempted aggravated homosexuality and indecent assault on a male minor aged 11 years.
Muhumuza was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months’ imprisonment for attempted aggravated homosexuality and 3 years’ imprisonment for indecent assault, to run concurrently.
In May 2025, when during a trip to and from Western Uganda, Muhumuza Godfrey forced the victim, his student, to touch his genitals. The discomfort of the victim led him to report the matter to his mother who reported it to the Police. The Police arrested Muhumuza, and he was prosecuted by Chief State Attorney Joan Keko and State Attorney Ivan Kyazze from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions before the Chief Magistrate of Buganda Road, His Worship Ronald Kayizi.
In determining the sentences, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution said aggravated factors such as the victim’s tender age, abuse of authority by Muhumuza, the vulnerability of the victim, and emotional harm caused were taken into consideration.
