KAMPALA, UGANDA – The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) announced today that provisional registration figures for the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE), and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) have reached 1,412,248 candidates as of July 3rd, 2025. This marks a significant increase of 103,250 candidates (7.31%) compared to last year’s total candidature of 1,308,998.
According to UNEB Spokesperson Jennifer Kalule, the first phase of late registration concluded on June 30th. Of the total registered candidates, 719,721 (51%) are sponsored by the government through Universal Primary Education (UPE), Universal Secondary Education (USE), and the Uganda Post O’Level and Training Program (UPOLET).
“Registration for candidates will continue until the end of July, though a surcharge will apply. UNEB encourages Heads of Centers to ensure all prospective learners are registered to avoid anyone being left out. Amendments to registrations can also be made free of charge until the end of July and submitted via the online portal.” Jenifer Kalule stated.
Additionally, Heads of UCE Centers are reminded to compile and submit Continuous Assessment scores for both Senior 3 and Senior 4 learners by the close of the second school term.
