With just a few days to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries, political temperatures have continued to rise in Luuka District. Annet Nabirye who serves as the Luuka District Women League Chairperson is among the contenders for the district’s Woman Member of Parliament seat and she is fast emerging as a dominant force, drawing massive crowds as well as pledges of support across the district.
Nabirye is optimistic that she will be able to unseat the incumbent Woman MP, Esther Mbayo during the party internal election for Parliamentary flag bearer race come next week.
With determination and rising popularity, Nabirye has steadily positioned herself as the frontrunner among the contenders for the seat.
She said her aim is to transform Luuka into a model district in Busoga since it borders almost every district in the subregion; Kamuli, Buyende, Kaliro,Mayuge,Iganga and Jinja.
In her campaign trails this week, Nabirye was welcomed with overwhelming support in the district, thus signaling growing confidence among voters.
To many in Luuka, Nabirye is seen not just as a candidate, but as a beacon of hope. The electorate describes her as a messiah ready to redeem the district from what they term as years of poor representation.
Her commitment to service delivery has earned her respect, with many praising her selfless acts and community support long before she declared her intentions to run for office.
With the race heating up and support growing by the day, all eyes now turn to July 17th when Luuka voters will decide who carries the NRM flag. Meanwhile Nabirye’s supporters remain upbeat and confident of carrying the day.
