Kampala, Uganda 16 July 2026 – The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abas Byakagaba, has established nine new electoral policing zones and appointed commanders to lead security operations for Uganda’s upcoming 2026 primary and general elections.
According to a the Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the appointed commanders will coordinate security efforts within their respective zones and areas of coverage.
The commanders are;
1. AIGP Kafeero Moses Kabugo – Busoga (Jinja) Busoga North, Busoga East, Kiira & Sezibwa.
2. AIGP Tanui Stephen – Northen (Gulu) Aswa West, Aswa East, West Nile, North West Nile.
3. CP Lawot Patrick – Karamoja Zone (Moroto) Mt Moroto, Kidepo, Elgon, Sipi, Bukedi South & Bukedi North.
4. CP Nkore Paul – Kyoga Zone (Soroti) North Kyoga, East Kyoga, South Kyoga.
5. CP Maate Godfrey Bolingo – Central Zone (Masaka) | Masaka West, Masaka East, Wamala & Katonga.
6. CP Muluya Moses – Albertine Zone (Hoima).
7. CP Ecega Richard – Kampala Metropolitan Zone (Kampala) KMP North, KMP South, KMP East.
8. CP Kulaigye Hillary – South Western Zone (Mbrarara) Rwizi, Kigezi, Greater Bushenyi.
9. CP Namuwooza Dennis – Rwenzori Zone (Fort Portal) Rwenzori East, Rwenzori West.
