KAMPALA, 16 July 2026 – A Member of Parliament for Lwemiyaga County and a nominated NRM Parliamentary Flag bearer, Ssekikubo Theodore (Hon), has formally requested armed police escorts and protection following a reported attack on his campaign team.
In a letter addressed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) dated July 2nd, 2025, Hon. Ssekikubo detailed an incident that occurred on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, at Kirega, Kampala Parish, Lwemiyaga. He alleges that his team was attacked by “Members of the UPDF commanded by Lt. Zziwa,” acting on the instructions of fellow candidate Brig Gen. Rutembirwe.
During the alleged attack, Hon. Ssekikubo states that two individuals, Mwebembuzi Fred and Moses Titangana, sustained gunshot wounds, with Mwebembuzi Fred reportedly dying on the spot.
Hon. Ssekikubo, who is campaigning for the 2026-2031 parliamentary term, emphasized that in light of the ongoing electoral exercise, he requires police protection. The letter bears a stamp indicating it was received on 2/07/2025 by SR Police Hqtrs Naguru.
