Kampala, Uganda 30 July 2025 – A fatal road accident occurred yesterday, July 29, 2025, around 3:00 PM on the Northern Bypass near the Kisasi Flyover, resulting in the death of a motorcycle rider. The incident involved a CAF King Long Bus, orange in color, with registration number UA 19059AA, which is assigned to the Uganda Cranes football team, and a motorcycle, registration number UFB 122F.
According to a press statement released by ASP Owoyesigyire Luke, Deputy PRO – Kampala Metropolitan Police, the bus, driven by Khalid Ahmed, allegedly swerved to avoid an oncoming trailer. In doing so, it struck a boda boda rider, who died instantly at the scene. The identity of the deceased is yet to be confirmed.
Police at Kira Road are currently investigating the accident. The body of the deceased has been transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem examination. Both the bus and the motorcycle have been impounded at Kira Road Police Station, awaiting further inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (IOV).
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police extended their condolences to the family of the deceased and urged all road users to exercise maximum caution to prevent such tragedies. Further details regarding the investigation will be released as they become available.
