The national team of Guinea for the CHAN 2024 tournament arrived in Uganda in the wee-morning hours of Friday, 1st August 2025. The West Africans touched based at Entebbe International Airport minutes after 2AM and were taken through the mandatory immigration processes at the lake-side airport facility.
The delegation of 45 people comprised of players, team officials and the media. This is the second team to come for the CHAN 2024 tournament after Niger and still expected are national teams of Algeria and South Africa.
The continental tournament organized jointly by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania under the Pamoja partnership will kick off tomorrow with a grand opening ceremony on August 2nd in Tanzania, as their national team, Taifa Stars take on Burkina Faso. Back in Nairobi, Kenya’s Harambee Stars, who will be under the guidance of Benni McCarthy, will begin their campaign against DR Congo at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, August 3rd.
Uganda will host 12 Group C matches, including showdowns between: Uganda vs Algeria – August 4 at 8:00 p.m.
Niger vs Guinea – the same evening at 5:00 p.m.
Additional matchdays: August 8, 11, and 15 before a high-stakes clash between Uganda and South Africa set for August 18.
FUFA third vice president Owek. Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, executive committee member Agnes Mugena led the Uganda protocol officials who welcomed the Guinea national team, joined by Mark Namanya, the other members on the CHAN 2024 PAMOJA Local Organizing Committee Uganda.
