KAMPALA – AUGUST 17, 2025: The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the TotalEnergies CAF CHAN-2024 tournament has announced that all tickets for the upcoming match between Uganda and South Africa have been sold out. The highly anticipated Match Day 5 game is scheduled for Monday, August 18, 2025, at Namboole Stadium.
The match is critical for the Uganda Cranes, who need a positive result to secure a spot in the Quarter Finals. Uganda currently leads Group C with six points, followed by Algeria and South Africa, who each have five points. The Group C teams hosted by Uganda are Algeria, Guinea, Niger, South Africa, and Uganda.
In a statement, the chairperson LOC Communications Subcommittee Dr Dennis Mugimba noted the high enthusiasm for tickets, particularly for games involving the Uganda Cranes, with an average of 34,000 fans filling Namboole Stadium whenever the team plays. “The information we have from CAF is that all tickets for Monday’s Match Day
5 featuring South Africa were sold out by 6 p.m. on Friday.” He noted.
In light of the sell-out, the LOC has issued a strong warning against ticket fraudsters. “Since Match Day One, all CHAN-2024 tickets in Uganda have been sold exclusively online and therefore anyone selling or distributing physical, fake, or duplicate tickets is committing an offense that poses a security and safety risk. Offenders will be apprehended.”
Fans who have fallen victim of fake or duplicate tickets for CHAN2024 are urged to report any information about the sale of fake or duplicate tickets to the nearest Uganda Police Force location. “Anyone found with a fake or duplicate ticket—including ordinary, silver, premium, VIP, VVIP, or Presidential tickets—will be denied entry to the stadium. The LOC requests that individuals flagged for carrying fraudulent tickets cooperate with stewards by simply leaving the premises.”
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) extended its gratitude to the fans
and well-wishers for the Uganda Cranes, more so, those that have been
able to purchase Match Day tickets to go to Namboole stadium to watch the various matches. “We also extend our appreciation to the fans that showed up at Namboole to support Algeria, Guinea, Niger, and South Africa as they
played their third Group matches on Match Day 4, on Friday”
For fans who were unable to purchase tickets, the LOC is organizing free Fan Parks starting at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025. These Fan Parks will feature live entertainment and a broadcast of the match. The official Fan Park locations are Café Milano in Masindi, Kyadondo Rugby Grounds in Kampala, and King’s Park Arena in Bweyogerere.
