MUBENDE, UGANDA: 24 OCTOBER 2025 – The Magistrate of the lower court in Mubende, Paul Okedi, has remanded National Unity Platform (NUP) MP aspirant for Kasambya county, Kyagera Peter, to Kaweeri Prison until November 13, 2025, when he will return to court to face two charges: forgery of documents and use of forged documents.
While appearing before the Magistrate in the court chambers today, Kyagera denied the charges read to him and he was therefore sent on remand. However, he was not accompanied by any person, whether a relative or any leader from his party, NUP.
It will be recalled that Kyagera was arrested by the police yesterday at the Mubende Electoral Commission office, on allegations that he had presented a forged receipt showing that he had paid 3 million shillings to be nominated to contest for the position of Member of Parliament for Kasambya Constituency in the 2026-2031 general elections.
According to the head of the Mubende Electoral Commission, Tumwesigye Ferdinand, the suspect presented forged receipts seeking to be nominated, and upon consultations with his bosses in Kampala, Kyagera had to be arrested.
The Police state that they are continuing with investigations into the matter.
