LUWEERO DISTRICT, 24 November 2025 – The Territorial Police in Luwero District have launched an investigation into a massive fire that severely damaged a mansion under construction belonging to Sarabwa Paul, the Mayor of Kikyusa Town Council and father of aspiring Bamunaniika MP, Elizabeth Salabwa.
The blaze erupted on the evening of Sunday, November 23, 2025, at approximately 7:30 PM, in the Wakivule zone of Kikyusa Town Council.
Preliminary police investigations suggest the fire may have been inadvertently started by workers attempting to deal with a bee infestation in the building. According to the press statement released today by ASP S. Twiineamazima, the Police Spokesperson for the Savannah Region, workers reportedly set fire to the affected area around 6:00 PM in a bid to extinguish the bees. This action, however, appears to have spread out of control, eventually consuming the entire under-construction mansion.

Police and fire officials, including a team led by DPC Ahimbisamukama Brighton and ASP Mwesigwa Abraham, responded swiftly to the scene. They were eventually able to bring the inferno under control. However, the damage is extensive, with the entire roof of the structure reportedly burnt out.
In a crucial detail, the police statement noted that ongoing family disputes are being taken into consideration as a potential factor in the incident. Authorities are continuing their inquiries to pinpoint the exact cause of the fire and identify all individuals responsible.
The police have urged the local community to remain calm and cooperate by allowing the investigation to proceed without interference. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
