KAMPALA UGANDA: 01 April 2026 – A new era of prosperity is taking shape for women-owned enterprises across Uganda, thanks to the pioneering GROW Project. This Government of Uganda initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), is dedicated to boosting the number, productivity, and competitiveness of women’s businesses nationwide.
With strategic support from the World Bank, the GROW Project’s mission is rooted in the powerful message that “My Voice Matters” and calls for all sectors of society to “Respect her voice, Support her choices.”
The project’s mission highlights the fact that when women’s confidence to speak, plan, and decide is prioritized, it creates a ripple effect that strengthens families, improves businesses, and moves entire communities forward.
Through the GROW Project, Ugandan women entrepreneurs are receiving the critical support needed to turn their business aspirations into reality. This includes targeted initiatives to:
Increase the number of women-owned enterprises: By fostering an environment where women can thrive, the project is paving the way for a more diverse and resilient economy.
Enhance productivity: The GROW Project equips women with the skills and resources to optimize their business operations and maximize their potential for growth.
Boost competitiveness: In an increasingly globalized market, the project empowers women to effectively compete on both national and international levels.
The project’s commitment to women’s voice is not just a moral imperative; it’s also a smart economic strategy. When women are empowered to make decisions and lead, they bring unique perspectives and innovate, driving progress for everyone.
