Uganda’s GROW Project Launches Business Clinics to Empower Female Entrepreneurs

KAMPALA, UGANDA: 02 April 2026– In a significant move to bolster the economic landscape of Uganda, the Generating Growth Opportunities and Productivity for Women (GROW) Project has intensified its efforts to scale up women-owned enterprises through specialized “Business Clinics.”

The initiative, a flagship program of the Government of Uganda, is being implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development in partnership with the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU). With strategic backing from the World Bank, the project aims to bridge the gender gap in the business sector by increasing the productivity and competitiveness of female-led firms nationwide.

Strengthening Skills and Confidence

The newly highlighted GROW Women’s Business Clinics are designed to be more than just classrooms; they are hubs for transformation. Recognizing that technical knowledge must be paired with self-assurance, the clinics focus on strengthening both business skills and confidence.

According to project organizers, these support services are tailored to address the specific hurdles women face in the marketplace. The curriculum covers a comprehensive range of essential business pillars, including:

Business Planning: Crafting sustainable roadmaps for long-term success.

Negotiation Skills: Empowering women to secure better deals and partnerships.

Financial Literacy: Mastering the nuances of cash flow, investment, and accounting.

Legal Rights: Navigating the regulatory landscape and understanding protections for women in business.

Market Linkages: Connecting local products and services to wider national and international markets.

A Vision for the Future

The GROW Project’s core mission is to transform small-scale operations into robust, competitive enterprises. By providing these targeted interventions, the initiative seeks to ensure that women are not just participants in the economy, but leaders of it.

The project’s call to action is clear: “Take part. Build your future.” This mantra reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive economic growth, ensuring that no entrepreneur is left behind due to a lack of resources or technical expertise.
