KAMPALA UGANDA: 08 APRIL 2026 – The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has issued an immediate suspension of the popular song “Mukube Paver” by artist Dynaso Wegoso.
In a public notice released on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the regulator directed all broadcasters, online content providers, and internet service providers to cease the airing and distribution of the track following a preliminary review of its lyrics and visual content.
According to the UCC, the song violates several broadcasting and content standards. The Commission highlighted three primary areas of concern:
Glorification of Violence: The song is accused of explicitly and implicitly promoting and inciting aggressive conduct.
Dangerous Social Media Trends: The UCC noted that the song has triggered “dangerous imitation behavior,” specifically citing harmful challenges on platforms like TikTok where young people mimic violent acts.
Public Safety Risk: The regulator stated that continued dissemination of the content poses a significant threat to public safety and contravene established societal values.
The UCC directive is comprehensive, targeting not just the song itself but all derivative content. It highlights;
Broadcasters: Must immediately stop airing the song and any programs or discussions that promote or reference it.
Digital Platforms: Streaming services and social media operators are required to remove the song and disable access to any related user-generated “challenge” content.
General Public: The UCC warned that sharing or promoting the prohibited content is a legal offense that may attract individual liability.
Legal Consequences: Any person who contravenes this directive faces a fine of up to 48 currency points, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both.
The Commission has summoned the artist, Dynaso Wegoso, to appear before it on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the findings and explore possible corrective measures.
The UCC reiterated its commitment to upholding public morality and national values, urging all stakeholders in the creative industry to exercise due diligence in the production and dissemination of content.
