Former Police Spokesman Asan Kasingye Quits Arsenal, Vows to Support Only SC Villa

KAMPALA: 12 April 2026— In a move that has sent shockwaves across “Football X” (formerly Twitter), retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Asan Kasingye has officially denounced his support for English Premier League side Arsenal, declaring a “sovereign promise” to stick strictly to local football.

Known for his passionate, often vocal support for the Gunners, Kasingye took to social media early Sunday morning to announce a radical shift in his sports allegiance. The veteran cop revealed that he is narrowing his focus to just one team: SC Villa.

”I Love My Internal Organs”

Kasingye’s decision appears to be driven by the emotional and physical toll of supporting high-stakes European football. His decision is highly anticipated to have been triggered by the Gunner’s slump in performance. Arsenal’s hope for silverware this season diminished with a loss to mid-table Bournemouth on Saturday.

In a strongly worded statement, he suggested that the stress of following foreign leagues was no longer worth the risk to his health.

”I have only one football club throughout the world that I support—SC Villa Jogoo. I will never wear any other jersey,” Kasingye stated. “I love my internal body organs more than watching European football leagues. I am done and sorted.”

To prove his commitment to the “divorce” from European football, Kasingye announced he would not be renewing his DStv Compact Plus bouquet—the subscription package primarily used by fans in Uganda to stream Premier League and Champions League matches.

A Warning to Followers

The former police spokesperson, who commands a massive following online, issued a stern warning to his friends and followers regarding future interactions. He made it clear that his digital space is now a “Villa-only” zone.

He also made it clear that his followers should only tag him in posts related to SC Villa Jogoo where he was recently appointed the Club Spokesperson.

Any tags regarding European club football or other leagues may result in an immediate block” he stated. He ended his declaration with a firm Luganda rhetorical question: “Ntegerekese?” (Have I been understood?).

Kasingye joins a growing number of Ugandan fans who are calling for a “Buy Uganda, Build Uganda” (BUBU) approach to sports, prioritizing the StarTimes Uganda Premier League over televised foreign matches.

For the Joogo faithful, Kasingye’s total devotion is a massive PR win. For Arsenal fans in Uganda, it marks the end of an era for one of their most prominent local voices.
