Revived Uganda Airlines, on Monday 4 October, 2021, started long route commercial operations with it’s first International passenger flight to Dubai -Unite Arab Emirates.
Uganda Airlines Ag. Chief Executive Officer Jeniffer Bamuturaki said the move is part of the airlines strategy to deliver long route international flights and offer quality passenger services to travelers.
Aboard the Airbus A330neo, the maiden flight coincides with the International World Trade Fair which was launched on Friday in Dubai and expected to last for about six months.
Last evening, Ms Bamuturaki said that the flight will have up to 100 people who have paid to fly, with the airline offering services in three class; business, premium economy and economy.
Bamuturaki said that the launch comes at a right time because Dubai is a trade city, in a trade country and they expect to maximize this opportunity.
“Uganda Airlines comes to cement the trade partnerships that we have been talking about during the Dubai Expo, trade partnerships between Uganda and UAE, particularly Dubai, so as an airline, we represent the country” She added.
“In terms of competition, we will definitely compete because we have a good equipment… We are the friendliest Airline and passengers should expect excellent service delivery, Ugandan music, local cuisine and other consumables” she added.
According to the flight schedule, Uganda Airlines plies the Dubai route 3 times a week; Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The national carrier also operates a fleet of four CRJ 900 series in East and Central Africa and South Africa in addition to the two long-haul airbuses acquired recently.
Uganda Airlines operates direct flights from its hub in Entebbe to and from Nairobi, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Juba, Bujumbura, Mogadishu, Kinshasa and Johannesburg.
Uganda Airlines is also set to expand its routes beyond London, Guangzhou, and Mumbai.
In August 2019, Uganda Airlines was re-launched after almost 20 years later, banking on passengers from the emerging oil and gas industry and tourism.
