Minister for Kampala Betty Namisango Kamya has reaffirmed her earlier prediction that president Museveni will defeat the opposition and win with a landslide victory come 2021.
Kamya was speaking at a graduation ceremony of youths and women from the informal sector at Kololo Independence grounds in Kampala on Sunday.
Addressing the President who was the chief guest at the event, Betty Kamya said that owing to the various development projects sanctioned by the president across the country, Museveni’s support has increased and her earlier prediction that president Museveni will win Kampala with over 85% was not a mistake.
“You remember three years ago I predicted that Mzee will win with 85% and some people laughed; but now you see it is very clear. It is going to happen” minister Kamya said.
She said the politics of Kampala has since changed, and she has been receiving messages from both the youths and their parents appreciating the support the president has offered through several developmental programs.
Kamya thanked the president for the stamina and effort in reaching out to all sectors of the population in Kampala besides his other official duties. She urged the graduands to vote for Museveni in the 2021 elections as guarantee to a favorable political environment for development.
Through the initiative, more than 8000 graduands from youth and women groups in Kampala and Wakiso district received vocational training in different disciplines including; hairdressing, tailoring, knitting, weaving, shoe-making, and others.
In his speech, President Museveni urged the youths to exploit the insatiable demand for better but affordable products in the country. He said there exists several business opportunities to exploit in different sectors including transport, garment and embroidery, food processing, decor, stationery, service and many others.
He said the main challenge of the country and the continent is reliance on imported products which calls for participation of citizens especially youths’ involvement into mass production.
The president said he has created a fund to support youth and women groups in districts across the country covering 16 sectors of production and services in order to create jobs and mitigate the current trade deficit.
