MBALE, UGANDA – November 9, 2025 – Mr. Lino Anguzu has officially been sworn in as the new Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for the Republic of Uganda, with a solemn pledge to uphold justice and serve the public with integrity.
The momentous ceremony took place today at Mbale State Lodge, presided over by H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of Uganda.
Mr. Anguzu, who was appointed by the President in October 2025, assumes the leadership mantle from the former DPP, Lady Justice Jane Frances Abodo, who was recently elevated to the position of Principal Judge.

Mandate for Impartial Justice
During the ceremony, the Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, administered the Official Oath and Oath of Secrecy. Mr. Anguzu affirmed his commitment to uphold the Constitution, protect the rule of law, advance criminal justice, and serve the people of Uganda with integrity, courage, and impartiality.
In his address to the new appointees, President Museveni congratulated them and issued a strong admonishment, urging them to serve without corruption and to administer quick and impartial justice to the people of Uganda.
The Hon. Deputy Chief Justice, Dr. Flavian Zeija, was also in attendance and echoed the President’s sentiments, congratulating the appointees and encouraging them to offer sacrificial service to the nation.
Prior Experience and Fellow Appointees
Prior to his appointment as DPP, Mr. Lino Anguzu held a distinguished position at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) as the Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions and Head of the International Crimes Department.
He was sworn in alongside three other appointees: Ms. Aisha Naluzze Batala, the Inspector General of Government, and the two Deputy Inspector Generals of Government, Ms. Anne Muhairwe and Dr. Patricia Acan Okiria.
