The Electoral Commission has disqualified Walukaga Mathias from the 2026 parliamentary elections after establishing that the academic testimonial he submitted for nomination had expired.
In a formal communication issued by EC Chairperson Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, the Commission noted that the testimonial had clearly expired by 23rd October 2025, making it invalid for nomination purposes.
Justice Byabakama explained that due to the expired document, Walukaga failed to meet the minimum formal qualifications required for anyone seeking to contest as a Member of Parliament under Section 4(1)(c) of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Cap 177.
Consequently, the EC declared that Walukaga Mathias “stands denominated” and is therefore ineligible to participate in the forthcoming polls.
The Commission has communicated the decision to Walukaga’s legal representatives Alaka & Co. Advocates and Nalukoola Advocates & Solicitors as well as to the Returning Officer of Wakiso District.
