WAKISO UGANDA: 06 February 2026 – Police in the Kampala Metropolitan area have apprehended a suspected robber following a dramatic afternoon attempted heist targeting a bank customer in Najeera.
The suspect, identified as Wagaba Hussen, 27, a resident of Kayunga in Wakiso District, was arrested today, March 6, 2026. The arrest took place just meters away from the Najeera Police Station, opposite the Stabex petrol station.
According to the Deputy Spokesperson, Kampala Metropolitan, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the victim, 27-year-old Nakawomne Deborah, had withdrawn UGX 21 million from a bank in Ntinda earlier in the day. She hired a boda boda to transport her home to Buwaate.
As they approached Najeera, a second motorcycle carrying two men intercepted them at high speed. The passenger on the trailing motorcycle lunged at Deborah, successfully grabbing her bag containing the cash.
The victim’s immediate alarm alerted police officers stationed nearby. While the driver of the getaway motorcycle managed to weave through heavy traffic and escape, officers were able to tackle and secure Hussen, the suspect who had grabbed the bag.
